Akufo-Addo Appoints Walewale MP As Gender Minister Designate


President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has elevated the Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and Member of Parliament for Walewale, Hon. Lariba Zuweira Abudu to the position as substantive Minister.

The President has also appointed the Member of Parliament for Kwabre East Hon. Francisca Oteng Mensah as the Deputy Minister.

A statement from the Jubilee House announcing the new appointments said the President hopes Parliament will expedite the approval of the nominees.

The position became vacant after the President of Ghana sacked the former Minister Sarah Adwoa Safo.

The Dome Kwabenya Member of Parliament stayed away from her post for close to a year with the excuse of taking care of her child.
