Ghana Police Service Set Anti-Robbery Task FOrce To ‘Fight’ Armed Robbers


The Ghana Police Service will today June 23, 2021, unveil its Anti-Robbery Task Force as part of several measures to curtail the increasing cases of brazen daylight robberies in the country.

It is gathered from highly placed police sources that officers leading the Task Force are experience persons who have dealt with the situation before and are expected to bring their expertise to bear.

Last week Friday, Director-General in charge of Legal and Prosecution for the Ghana Police Service, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye dropped a hint that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr James Oppong-Boanuh is employing innovative ideas to help combat crime.

“The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has put in new and innovative ideas to combat the menace that is confronting us now”, he revealed at a passing-out ceremony for 320 recruits in Kumasi.

COP Kofi Boakye added” you are joining the service at a time armed robbery is becoming imminent danger to our peace. The Police Service legitimacy is our ability to fight crime and this we want to emphasize and assure the nation that very very soon involved in this bank bullion robbery and especially those who committed it recently will be arrested”, he assured.

He reiterated that the service is not for jokers and that it demands sacrifices with little appreciation adding that it is not a smooth terrain as many may think.
