Asante Kotoko have confirmed that they are making preparations for their preliminary tie against Nigerian side Kano Pillars but conspicuously missing from the team is mercurial striker Sogne Yacouba.
The Burkinabe import has been a peripheral figure in the team since his contract standoff with the reds.
Yacouba travelled to his homeland after the end of the Normalization Committee special tournament where he attended his late brother’s funeral.
In an interview with Accra based Asempa Fm, spokesperson for Asante Kotoko Kennedy Boakye Ansah confirmed that Yacouba has arrived in the country.
“His manager has informed us that Yacouba has arrived in the country but he is carrying an injury.
“In his absence, other players have stepped up so well, for now, we are working without Sogne Yacouba”
His fitness can only be determined by the medical team so till they are able to work on him we will travel to Nigeria without him” he added
The Burkinabe last played for Kotoko during the Normalization Cup Special competition and recently General Manager for the club Mr Geroge Amoako urged fans to move on from Yacouba as he no longer figure in their plans.
